Christmas by the beach

Hello again crafty friends!  Today I have another tropical type Christmas card to show you.

The wreath can be used for any occasion and since I live in Florida it is perfect for me to use for Christmas.  I made two versions of the same card.  The one above used tradition blues, pale pinks and neutral browns along with some pops of red to bring a little Christmas color into it.  You can’t tell from the photo, but some of the shells have little pops of glitter on them.  The image was colored with copics.

The second version has more red to tie into the holiday season and uses kraft cardstock to add a balance against the red.  The image is from Flourishes.

Thanks for stopping by – there are more holiday cards to show – hopefully I can get them posted before the Thanksgiving  activities take hold!

ice skates

It’s been many, many years since I’ve been ice skating.  As a child we would skate on the frozen ponds near the house – and then in the 70’s an ice skating rink was built in town so we did not have to be at the mercy of the weather! In college (University of Connecticut) there was an outdoor rink and one semester I took lessons with the skate club.  I remember it being so very cold.  Now that I live in Florida there are many roller rinks but no ice rinks but honestly I don’t miss the cold!!

But I want to reminisce about the wonderful winter activities so here is my ice skating card.

It is done in a very clean and simple way – the coloring is just some blue-green copic markers with grey for shading.  A embossed background adds a little texture. The dark cardstock is grey a although it looks black in the photo.

How about a little greenery for your Christmas card?  Here is one that was easy to color..

Colored with copic markers – just a few shades of green, some earth tones and a bit of red!  The frame is a cut file from the silhouette store.  The image is from Flourishes (no longer available).

ski and hat

Although I live in Florida now I have many wonderful memories of skiing.  I grew up in New England and learned to ski in Vermont.   When I moved to California Orvil and I took many ski vacations where we saw some of the best and most scenic areas.  I think our favorites are Lake Tahoe, Jackson Hole and anywhere in Colorado!

So here is a Christmas card to celebrate those great times!

The image was colored with copic markers and is from Flourishes (no longer available).  I used a Martha Stewart punch for the snowflake and cuttlebug embossing folder.

season everything with joy

We made it through this weeks heavy rains and today the sun is shining bright with temperatures hitting 80.  We did not lose power or have any major road damage in our neighborhood and are very thankful for that.  Pensacola has some serious road wash outs and it will be awhile before things are back to normal.

So….I was checking out our tomato plants yesterday and they are doing well. Looks like we will have a nice crop – maybe  even enough to give to our neighbors!  And thought I would make this tomato themed card.

I colored the image with watercolors and it came together rather quickly.
