clean and simple monday

It’s been awhile since I played along with the clean and simple challenge at SCS.    Today’s challenge was to make a card inspired by a breakfast photo – coffee, a danish and an apple.  Here is my take on it

This is about as clean and simple as you can get!  The stamps are from TPC studio  I colored the coffee cup with copics, cut it out and popped it up on the card.

We’ve been having wonderful weather here in Florida.  The humidity is down (relatively speaking, for us) and there is a nice breeze.  It will probably be about 80 here today – a welcome change from the high ninety’s just a few weeks ago.

Thanks for stopping by today!

autumn leaves

I guess fall is kicking in.  The craft stores have had fall/winter items in their stores since July, so we better get going on all those holiday craft items!  It is still summer here – hot and humid and today we are getting much needed  rain from Tropical Storm Lee.

Here is my fall card – for today’s inspiration challenge at SCS.

I used a stamp from SU’s Autumn Leaf Prints – probably one of their best leaf sets that I will never part with!  I colored the stamp with markers tangerine, cajun and espresso.  The sentiment is from Papertrey.

The embossed background is folder from The Paper Studio – I am so glad other companies are getting into the embossing folder market.  It really gives us crafters much more variety.  The paper I used for the embossing is some cardstock that I have had for ages – probably 10 years now.  I purchased a ream of it at Kelly Paper in California.  It is heavy weight and has tiny blue fibers throughout it.

The chocolate grosgrain ribbon?  A month ago I purchased a set of white washcloths from Bed Bath and Beyond and they were held together with two of these ribbon pieces.  Of course I had to save the ribbon – I knew it would be used on a card one way or another!

The base card is from SU – probably hunter or forest foliage.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I’ll be off the grid for awhile visiting family.

knit happens

If you know of someone who knits, then this cute set, from TPC, called Yarn Crafts is for you!  It has some super cute yarn images and sentiments.  I could not help picking it up at the last 40% off sale at JoAnn’s.

The colors I used were based on this weeks color challenge at SCS, calling for the colors of pool party, wasabi, and chocolate.  I did not have the pool party color, so I improvised the the best match I had in my stash.

I stamped the image in memento black and colored it with the following copics:  B21-B23-E42-E44-R49.  Circle nestabilities were used for the round shapes and an EK Success fence punch for the border.  The sentiment was stamped in memento rich cocoa.

clean and simple monday

Hello friends!

It’s been a while since I last blogged – nothing earth shattering going on, just the normal everyday things that keep you busy!  I’m so glad I was able to get the time to stamp today – I’ve missed it!!  This card is for today’s clean and simple challenge at SCS, which is to make something using the Artists “rule of three”.

Now, anything on your card can be in “three’s”.  The most obvious is the three rhinestones on the front panel, but that was just an afterthought.  My intent for this card was to use the red/rust color three times.  In this case the color shows up on the base card, on the sponged edges of the stamped panel and on the sentiment.

Let me tell you about this background image – I found it at JoAnn’s last week.   I was looking at the clear stamp sets when I noticed half of the display was made up of cling rubber!!!!  YES!!!  More and more companies are going to cling rubber and I am thrilled!

But what is even better is how they cling.  Some of the new cling stamps – like from SU and Hero Arts have a vinyl cling material on the back which is what is supposed to cling to your acrylic block.  Some of my large Hero Arts stamps just don’t cling “enough” for me.    This image, from TPC Studios has the image printed on the cling foam!  No vinyl!!  Just like a stamp with EZ Mount Cling Foam – only better because the image is printed on the foam.  And it clings perfectly!   And the set was on sale for 40% off!  It’s called Secret Garden Collage and comes with this image, a floral image and several sentiments.    I am in stamping heaven!!

The colors I used were all Memento inks – Dandelion, Potters Clay and a little Rhubarb.  The sentiment is from Papertrey.  The red cardstock from SU.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

the colors of autumn

Autumn is filled with rich reds, oranges, yellows sprinkled in between the greens and browns.  It’s a beautiful time of the year – even down here in Florida where a few of the trees  have leaves that turn colors!

This card was created for today’s clean and simple challenge at SCS which called for using fall colors.

I stamped the leaf and sentiment onto vanilla cardstock.  The leaf was colored with daffodil, pumpkin, tangerine and cherry markers.  The sentiment and lined frame was done in cocoa.  I love this particular leaf set from SU, called Autumn  Leaf Prints.  It’s retired now, but I don’t think they have made a leaf set as nice since this one.   The leaf was also stamped in the background with cherry ink.  The sentiment is from TPC Studio.

The paper is cherry, espresso and kraft – and this combination goes so well together.  The richness of the cherry against the dark espressor reminds me of chocolate covered cherries!
