getting ready for warm weather

I have not blogged for awhile – just busy with life, that’s all!!    We’ve been doing some traveling and keeping busy with other things and my crafting has taken a bit of a vacation.

So…now is the time to get back into the swing of things.  I’m teaching a copic class this Saturday at the Gulf Coast Crop-n-Shop weekend at the Emerald  Coast Convention Center in Fort Walton Beach and I thought I would show one of the cards we are making:

The sandcastle image is from Impression Obsession and the sentiment from Papertrey.  This was a relatively easy image to color.  I used copics E30, E21 and E26 for the main image, along with G82, G85 Y11 and R27 for the fence, grass, sun and sand pail.  The sky was sponged using Memento Summer sky ink.  This could easily become a holiday card – I love to use beachy type images for my holiday cards that I send to my family up north.

fly away

Hello friends!  I hope your week is starting off well. Summer is in full swing here..we have family coming in this weekend to spend a week with us and next week will be filled with lots of beach time.

This card was created for Impression Obsession’s Fly Away challenge – details shown HERE.

This clean and simple card uses three images from IO’s clear set #CL112 called Flowers.  It has several wonderful floral and leaf images.  I used one to make the butterfly!

First I stamped the two flower images on white cardstock and lightly colored with copic markers.  To make the butterfly, I stamped the image on a scrap piece of paper, colored it in and then cut it out.  By turning the image on its side I created a side view of the butterfly wings.   Here’s a look.

All I had to do was draw the body in with a black pen and I was good to go!  The sentiment was handwritten on a scrap of Basic Grey paper.  I think it’s nice to handwrite sometimes instead of using a stamped sentiment.

The base card was embossed with a cuttlebug embossing folder.

sentiment stamps

Today’s card uses a sentiment stamp as the focal point.

I made the front cover using patterned paper from the K & Company Tim Coffey Travel line.    This pack has some great travel, beachy, map type paper and living in Florida I know I will make great use of it!

Once I made the front I cut a circle off center using nestabilities dies and stamped the sentiment – from Impression Obsession.   A few small shells were glued onto the lower right corner.

using graphic images for backgrounds

Today I am using a graphic image strip to create a background.  Here’s the card:

The background panel with the white design uses an image from  Papertrey’s Background Builders – Retro set.  I stamped the image 7 times on a piece of transparency using Staz-on white opaque ink.   Lining each row up was a breeze with the Fiskars Stamp Press – if you don’t have one of these get one!!  It is perfect for doing this type of pattern.

The sentiment, from Impression Obsession, was stamped with SU Teal ink  The patterned paper is from American Crafts Shoreline series, the cardstock from Mark’s Finest Papers.  The little starfish sticker is from K and Company and was the perfect match in color to the cardstock.

tgif!

TGIF!!  Here is a quick and easy card you can make using some of those scraps you have lying around.

The images were stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa (the blossom colored with a copic marker).  Basic Grey Infuse paper was used for the cut shapes.  I used a cheery lynn die to create them.

Have a wonderful weekend!
