summer sunset

It’s been awhile since I used my Twinkling H2O paints so today I decided to make a quick and easy summer sunset.

I started with the palm tree stamp from Stampscapes, which I embossed in black.  Then I painted over the image with the twinkling h2o’s.  Starting with Sunflower on the bottom, Yellow Rose in the middle and Spiced Pumpkin at the top.  Once these three colors were applied, I went over each area with the same colors and blended the line where the paints meet in order to soften the look.   The camera does not capture the beauty of these shimmery paints, but it looks great irl!    The sentiment is from Papertrey.

another olympic inspiration

Here’s another card inspired by the Olympics…

I stamped the trees, from Stampscapes, in white pigment ink (CTMH) and embossed with white embossing powder and mounted the panel on white.

The words, from Stamp Zia, were stamped in olive.  The green paper is from Papertrey, the white is Bazzil textured cardstock.

The main panel was popped up with paper piercing around the edges.  A bow made of olive silk ribbon was added on the side.

Olympic Inspiration

Are you watching the Olympics?  I love watching the games and am always amazed at what the athletes can do.

This card was inspired by watching the cross county events – which are held on beautiful tree lined snow trails.  The area is so beautiful, although I doubt the athletes noticed during their competition.  I sure hope after their events they were able to take some time and enjoy the scenery!

I stamped the image, from Stampscapes, in Palette Noir.  The moon was created by punching a circle out of eclipse masking tape and placing it on the panel.  Copic markers in several shades of blue were airbrushed over the entire image.   I then removed the mask and lightly airbrushed some light blue over the moon to soften it up.

The winter words, from Stamp Zia,  were stamped on vellum and added to a white panel of Bazzil cardstock.  I wanted a clean and simple look so   the only embellishment was a  small snowflake from K & Company was added at the bottom.

Cut away

This month we tried another technique – cutting away at part of an image to allow the background paper to show through. Alice showed us this technique using a butterfly image and this is my take…..I started with a piece of glossy card stock that I had previously colored using reinkers and water. I embossed the dragonfly images (company unknown for the larger ones, SU for the small) and stamped the cattails (Stampscapes). Using an exacto knife, I cut away at the larger dragonfly wings, to allow the blue card stock to show through. The purple background is stamped with canvas (SU), along with swirls and flowers (Autumn Leaves). The “imagine” embellishment is from Making Memories and is mounted on an oval die cut from sizzix.
