I Brake For…..Clown Fish!!

Hello stampers and welcome to Wednesday with I Brake For Stamps.  Do you like shaker cards?  They seem to be all the rage these days.  It’s been at least 15 years since I made one.  Techniques come and go in the crafting world and back then they were all the rage and it is nice to see them popular again.  Here is mine!

I’ve used a stamp called Clown Fish, found here on the IBFS store.  A nice image that has the fish above a little section of sand and coral.  The beads that make up the “shaker part” obscures some of the sand and coral portion – here is a little closer look.

It’s been so long since I did a shaker card I had to go back and review the steps.  In my stash of stuff I found a bunch of containers of micro beads – if you’ve been crafting awhile you remember those teeny, tiny beads used to cover pens.  Well I have a bunch and when I used them on the card here I may have used just a tad too much!  They are so small you don’t realize how much you are putting into the card.  And you can’t tell, but they are a very light blue.  They look clear in the photo.

I hope you take a stab at creating one of these shaker cards.  They are fun to do!

I Brake For….May Your Troubles

Hello stamping friends.  It’s Wednesday and I Brake For Stamps day!  How about a little Irish Blessing?

The card uses a stamp called May Your Troubles, found here.   It’s a lovely Irish blessing that works well for different occasions.  A wedding shower or wedding celebration card, new home or baby – all fit with this sentiment. You can even use this for a nice birthday card for your Irish friends!

I love the Celtic knot border around the text and was happy when the detail came through even after embossing it in gold.

I used a cryogen white cardstock, which as a very pretty shimmer to it, but is hard to capture in a photo.

For the background design I took a Celtic knot border from a Silhouette cut file, copied it several times and welded it together to make one overall piece.  Using a white on white palette I think the design adds a touch of elegance without overpowering the sentiment.

Sisterhood Of Crafters Challenge

Hello stampers and welcome to a new day and a new challenge at the Sisterhood of Crafters Challenge Blog.  Today’s challenge theme is Dashing Through The Snow!  Build a snowman, create a snowy scene or anything with snow.  Details can be found on the Sisterhood blog here.

My card for this challenge uses an old Stampin Up set that I just adore.  I’ve sold many of my stamp sets over the years but could never bring myself to get rid of this cute set with the snowman, tree and tiny snowflakes. The sentiment and larger embossed snowflakes in the background are from a different set altogether.

Down here in Florida we have had a colder than normal winter and frankly I am tired of it!  I’m hoping for the rest of the winter the cold weather stays up north – where it belongs!!

I hope you will join in on the challenge and look forward to seeing your creations.

I Brake For….Love Text Background & More!

Hello my fellow stampers and welcome to Wednesday with I Brake For Stamps.  I’m all about Love and Valentines today!

I used three different stamps on this card  and proved to myself that almost any stamp can be made into a Valentine if you use red and white paper and ink.   Take a look at the heart details in the photo below.

I cut out 3 heart shapes (Silhouette cut files) on red and white paper.  Then used three different stamps:

The largest heart has the Love Text Background stamp found here:  I stamped it with a bold red ink.

The smaller white heart uses the Buttercups stamp – found here.  It almost has a toile feel to it.  The same red ink was used.

The small red heart was stamped with the Large Flower Background stamp found here – using versamark and embossed with white embossing powder.

Take a look at your floral and background stamps and see how they look stamped on a heart shape!

The word “love” is a  silhouette cut file as well.  The background is a heart embossing folder

Now, the pillow box – this was so easily done I should make more of these.  The file is a silhouette cut file.  I used the Love Text Background stamp and embossed it in  white.  Here is a close up of the design without the ribbon.  This is so pretty – it would be perfect for a wedding favor as well.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.   Head on over to the IBFS store – there are a ton of Love/Valentine stamps available and I know you will find something to your liking!

I Brake For….Heart Quilt!

Hello stampers and welcome to Wednesday with I Brake For Stamps!  Now that we are done with Christmas and New Years celebration, the next holiday on the horizon is Valentine’s Day.  You are already seeing hearts and flowers all over the place, but how about a nice warm quilt?

The stamp is called Heart Quilt and can be found here.

I love the homespun look of the image.  And while I used it for a Valentine’s Day card here, I can see this being used for a wedding card, or even a birthday card for a quilt maker.  My sister makes quilts and this image would be perfect for a card for here.

The color scheme possibilities are endless here.  I pulled out an old pad of Basic Grey paper that I love and used it as the inspiration for the colors of the quilt.  The pinks and reds work well for a valentine, and the touch of green softens it up.  I can see this done in a red, white and blue palette for patriotic days and how about a crisp red and white for Christmas?

Hope on over to the IBFS store – there are many love/valentine themed stamps for you to choose from.   I know you will find something there to your liking! Use code SAVE10NANCY and save 10% off your order.
