ornament gift box

Over the years I’ve given many ornaments to friends and family members for Christmas, and usually I just package it by placing it inside a gift bag.    I decided to look for something other than a bag that would accommodate a small ornament and found an easy template on the Scor-Pal project web site.

This box was made using the “one cupcake box”  tutorial found {here} – but I made few adjustments for this box that I will list below.

The box was made with SU textured Pomegranate paper and Bazzill White Swiss Dot paper.  I followed the directions on the Scor-Pal site with two exceptions.

-First the instructions call for cutting a circle on the front side of the box to create a window – I decided not to put a window on the side so I just skipped this step.

-Second, the instructions have the top being a 5″ square piece of paper, scored at 1″ in on each side.  Since I need the top to hang down a little farther to accommodate the satin ribbon, I started with a 6″ square and scored about 1.5″ in on each side.

I used an SU border punch to edge the top and used SU Pomagranate ribbon around it.

To top it off I punched two Martha Stewart snowflakes and ran some gold thread with a bead to keep everything together.

The inside of the top I lined with more pomegranate paper – just to give it a more finished look and to hide where the gold cord was punched through the top.

So – now I am all ready to package up that special ornament!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
