a look back at 2010, looking forward to 2011

This week you’ll be seeing alot of  “a look back at 2010”  articles.   In  Joan B’s blog, Paperlicious, she reviews what her craft goals were in 2010.  I remembered that I had set a few stamping goals at the start of the year, so I thought I’d look back at my blog post and see how I fared!

In late December 2009 these were the goals I posted for 2010 and how  I did:

-create more – take the time to really push myself creatively by trying more techniques and  different styles

I did create more – alot more!  I blogged three times more in 2010 than in 2009, participated in many challenges, used my copic markers so much more, made bags,  several different boxes,  and scrapbooks.  I tried letterpressing, using fabric on cards, and digi stamps all for the first time.    I hosted a make ‘n take at my LSS, and taught my first copic class – with two more scheduled for the new year.  I focused more on the clean and simple style this year

-use my supplies!! No more hoarding supplies just for that “perfect” occasion, and give away/sell those items that I know I will never use.

This was my mantra this year.  I sold a bunch of stamp sets that I had not used in years, and made it a point that no supply was off limits.  I am still going through my craft room to see what I can sell or give away and will continue to do this for 2011.   I also revamped/reorganized my stamp set storage system – it has helped me find and use the stamps I have so much better.

-submit items for publication – I did this when I first started stamping and for some reason stopped.

I had the good fortune of being published twice in 2010.  Will have to plan on doing this more in 2011.

-relax and enjoy life!

Looking back  I realized I enjoyed stamping and creating so much more this last year than in recent years.    I think it was creating for the pure joy of it, without any obligation that made it so much fun.  It reminded my of when I first started stamping, back in the late 1990’s – just having fun and creating something pretty or artistic.

What’s in store for 2011?   Here are a few goals I’ll set for myself…

-Teach more classes – it can be more copic classes, regular stamping classes or something that utilizes the Big Shot Pro I got for Christmas!

-Take more classes! – I’d love to find some advanced craft classes to take (there’s not much around here, so it may require a little traveling).

-Submit more items for publishing

-Continue to try new techniques and styles

I know many of you set crafty  goals for yourself for 2010.  How did you do?  I’d love to hear from you on your own personal year in review!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
