blog hopping!

Hello friends!  Today I am blog hopping with the talented ladies from the DigiDesign House!   The theme for this hop is “Follow Your Dreams”.    I’ve gone with a masculine themed card because I am always dreaming of my man!! Plus it reminds me of the wonderful vacations we took throughout the southwest.  And you can never have too many masculine cards.

The card uses two images from the Western set.  I uploaded both the hat and boot images onto one file, resized them and printed the image on copic x-press it blending cardstock.  I used the following copics to color:  R35, R39, R59, R89, Eoo, E08, E11, E15 and E18.

Once I was finished coloring I used the “ragging” technique to add a little texture to the hat.  Ragging is taking a piece of an old rag, applying a little bit of copic colorless blender fluid to it, then pressing the rag onto the image.  The colorless blender removes some of the color and leaves a textured look.  Here is a closer look at the hat image.  The center image is “before” the right image is after applying the rag.  If you look closely at the one on the right you can see it is more “mottled”.

I’ve been stamping for many, many years and when I first started it was wood mounted rubber only.  Then I went to a stamp convention and saw bins of unmounted rubber – I initially thought I would never go unmounted until I saw some wonderful images that were available only unmounted and ended up with a bunch!

Fast forward a few years and clear stamps started making their way onto the market.  Again I thought I would never stray from rubber, but, once again I saw some beautiful images that I just had to have.  My stamp collection is now about half rubber and half clear.

Fast forward again to the present day and the wonderful world of digital stamping.  Well, never say never!  There are some incredible digital images available.  The great thing about digis is that you can resize them and flip them around to fit your needs.  The DigiDesign House, which is the digital side of The Angel Company has some great digis – this card uses the Western set and I know I will get much use out of this set!

As part of the blog hop three mystery Design Team members will be giving away the Cool Chicks set from Digi Design House to a random commenter on their blog post. You have until 6:00PM CST on Thursday, March 3 to comment. At 6:01PM, the number of comments will be tallied, and the random number generator will do its magic to pick the winner. You don’t know which team members have the candy, so make sure you comment on EACH stop in the hop. Additionally, all of the names of our faithful (those of you who comment on EVERY stop on the hop) will be put in a hat to draw an additional set! Oh yes, we are giving away FOUR FREE STAMP SETS!   So – continue hopping and you can be a winner!  So, if you came here from Michelle’s blog you can continue on to Paula-Kay’s blog.  If you came here on your own, you can start from the beginning with Christine’s blog.
