happy memorial day!

I hope you are all enjoying this last day of the three day Memorial Day weekend.  It’s hot and humid here in Florida – summer is here!  The beaches are packed and have been all weekend so we are staying at home.

I decided to check out the Clean and Simple challenge at SCS today and it called for making something with folded or scrunched ribbon.   As I looked around my craft room I found this piece of turquoise grosgrain ribbon.  It was only about a foot long and was frayed on one end.  I have no idea where I got it, and it is the only piece left.  Hmmm…what to do, what to do.

Then my eyes spotted the pad of paper called Flea Market from Colorbok, which includes a  couple of “text” pages that contained pops of turquoise and red.  I was set!  Here is the card:

The text is the definition of “family” (it’s hard to read) and the word “family” is in turquoise.  I mounted the panel on SU Turquoise cardstock.  My ribbon was a perfect match so I folded it and added a red polka dot brad from My Minds Eye.  I left the frayed end of the ribbon – it just seemed to look good the way it was.

The red cardstock is also SU, and was placed off center to add interest.  The base card is some generic stone/grey cardstock – probably from Michaels.

Once this was finished I realized I had made a kinda/sorta “red, white and blue” card, although mine is red, turquoise and off white, I thought it was fitting for today!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.
