southwest style

When we lived in California we took many vacations in the southwestern US.  Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Utah all have incredible natural landscapes and historical treasures.    I loved our visits there – they were filled with the most wonderful food, and scenery as well as great shopping for silver jewelry and native american crafts.    This card celebrates those wonderful vacations.

The main image is from Digi Design House, the digi side of TAC.  If you are in the market for a great western set, this image is from their Western set and it has several great images.  It was printed out on copic paper  – thought I was going to  color it with copics but at the last minute decided to use my Prisma pencils.  Surprisingly, copic paper works fabulous with pencils!   No solvent like OMS or baby oil was used – just the pencils.  It gave me an opportunity to try my skills at shadows and highlights.  I like how the shadows in the folds of the blanket and on the ground came out.  The sky was sponged with memento summer sky ink.

The base card  was stamped with Impression Obsession’s Screen cover-a-card stamp.  The woodgrain panel is stamped with a Papertrey image.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
