working with line images

Yesterday I used a line image by stamping it on non white paper and coloring it in.  Today I am using a line image a little differently – it is still colored in, but with a twist.

Here is the card.

I started by taking a piece of white cardstock and brushing a wash of color over the entire piece using Radiant Rain.  I have the older version of this product, made by LuminArte – mine are in sponge daubers and after shaking them up a bit I uncapped the bottle and used a brush to apply the wash.  Radiant Rains are shimmery mists – think Twinkling H2O’s already in liquid form.

The colors I used as a base are Solar Gold and a little Bronze.   Once the piece was dry I embossed the leaf image in white.    The image, from Peddlers Pack, is a large stamp – it covers almost an entire A2 card front and makes a real statement – not much else is needed.  I could have left it as is but I wanted to main leaf to stand out a bit more.

Once the image was embossed I went back in and colored the main leaf using Nutmeg Radiant Rain  – this really made the leaf pop while still staying in the same color family.

I  wish you could see the rich shimmery colors on this card – the photo does not do it justice.

I finished it off by added a sentiment (from Flourishes) on a strip of vellum.  The vellum allowed the base image to show through.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
