February’s new stamp sets have something for everyone!  Today’s card is with the tea set called Relax A Bit.  When I saw this pretty tea cup I knew I would do something a little more feminine.  Here is the card:
I stamped the images with Memento ink on Copix X-Press it Card stock and colored with copics.  The background paper is from Basic  Grey Euphoria line.   This card NEEDED some lace (!!) so I pulled some from my stash and framed the back panel with it.  Of course pearls were needed as well to finish it off!
Please hop along with us! You have a chance to win one of the above stamp sets! Just comment on the following blogs (don’t forget this one), each day for more chances to win! (You do NOT have to comment on all the blogs each day! The names are drawn randomly!) All four winners will be announced on February 18, 2012 on the Mark’s Finest Papers blog. You can go back and comment if you missed a day. (HINT: The more you comment, the more chances you have to win and comments on the MFP blog count twice!) The deadline for commenting is 11PM EST on Friday February 17, 2012.

bleach it out

It’s been awhile since I did a bleach technique on a card,  so while the laundry is going today this was the perfect time to “bleach it out”!  Here is the card:

I stamped the rose with versamark and embossed it with black embossing powder.  Then I applied bleach with a small brush within the embossed lines.   Once dry, the bleach had removed most of the color of the cardstock – leaving a white base on which to apply color.   I used water based markers in green and peach to add the color.

On the base of the card is designer paper from Basic Grey’s Ambrosia line.  I also stamped a leaf image with versamark ink in the background.

The cardstock is from Mark’s Finest Papers and is called Florida Peach and works well with the bleach technique.  Some cardstocks do not so you will want to test a small sample first if you want to try this.

The images are from Mark’s Finest Papers as well – from the Love Remains set.

sunny monday

What a beautiful day it is today here in sunny Florida!   We are having our usual wonderful warm weather  and I have a bright sunny card for today!

The images are from the newly released You Are Cherished set from Mark’s Finest Papers.   I love this black-eyed susan image and have several already colored in different shades.  This one is the more traditional yellow and orange shades – it was colored with various YR copic markers.

The green and patterned paper are from Basic Grey’s Kioshi line.  The gorgeous yellow paper and ribbon are from Mark’s Finest Papers – called Morning Sun  and it is a rich and vibrant yellow!

I also used an SU corner punch, a Martha Stewart border punch and a button and brad from my stash.

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

kraft and little flowers

This card is for two of this weeks challenges at SCS.  One called for using kraft cardstock, the other to use little flowers.

The card went through many variations, most of which were very clean and simple.  Unfortunately, clean and simple looked too plain.  So after several different attempts with a variety of background images and papers, it finally came together this morning.

The images are all Papertrey.  On the main panel, the grass and flowers were stamped first with white pigment (from CTMH), then with Memento Bamboo.  I love the look of the white and green together and because these stamps are clear it was so easy to do the second image.

The die cut leaves are leftovers from my last project.  The green patterned paper is from Basic Grey – Origins, with the black patterened paper from DCWV Lemon paper pack.  The base card was stamped with a PTI image using versamark – although most of it is covered up.  My pearls were all white – just used a copic marker to color them the right shade of green.

accordian book

I love kits.  What is not to love?  So much of the manual work is done for you, everything is color coordinated and all you have to do is put it together and add your special touch to it to make it your own.  Such is the case with this accordion album kit from The Angel Company – which is from the Natalee  collection .  I kid you not – this was so easy to put together.  It took maybe 10 minutes.  The pieces were pre cut and prescored, so all you have to do is decide how you want each inside page to look.

On the front I used a digital image from TAC Digi Design House, called Cottage Rose.  It’s an absolutely gorgeous image (I’ll be using it often!) and colored it with prisma pencils.  I chose the purple because the patterned paper has shades of purple throughout it.  To “make it my own” I added a purple silk ribbon from May Arts and square rhinestones from Basic Grey.   I’ll add a title on the front later in the small circle tag.

One of the things I like about this kit is that the pages are scored to allow you to actually add things to the inside pockets while retaining the shape of the book.

And – the kit includes a pre cut band to fit around the album so that everything stays in place.

Here is a look at one of the inside pages.  Each page has a different pocket.
