I carry your heart with me

Hello friends – hope your Monday is going well. I have a valentine card to share with you..and some news at the end of this post. First, here are the cards.

The large card was made using a silhouette file that was generously shared by a fellow crafter on a facebook group I belong to. The file is actually three panels of heart shapes – which each panel the hearts are smaller and when you put them all together it had a nice dimensional look. I used foam tape to pop the layers up, but that is not necessary. On the front I added a couple of hearts along with a sentiment that was computer generated – the first two lines of one of my favorite love poems – i carry your heart – from e.e. commings. Here is a closer look at the front to show the three layers.

When these panels are cut you end up with many cut out hearts – a whole pile of them!! So I took nine of them and popped them up on a smaller panel and made the smaller card. I think it took longer for me to line up these nine hearts than it did to make the entire first card!

Now some news.. I don’t know if you noticed or not, but there is a new blog badge on the right side of my blog for I Brake For Stamps. I am now on the design team for this company and can’t wait to show you what I’ve made with their stamps. Come back on Wednesday for my first card. And save 10% on your purchases at their store when you use code SAVE10NANCY. They had thousands of stamps!!

love blooms

Hello my creative and crafty friends!  I hope you are all doing well.  It’s getting to the end of January and that means love is in the air!  Everywhere you look there are hearts and flowers and all things related to Valentine’s Day.  My husbands birthday is only 9 days after Valentine’s Day so I have double duty in February for card making.

Now…how do you get the most out of your stamps?  How about taking a Christmas image and turning it into one for Valentine’s Day?  Here is my card where I did just that:

The image is from Power Poppy’s Simple Joys Christmas set, but I made a little modification to turn it into a Valentine.  Take a side by side look at the original image and my version:

When I stamped the original image I inked up everything but the round ornaments – yes it was a little difficult to work my marker in between those branches but I did it!  Once I stamped it without the ornaments I penciled in some hearts, then went over them with a fine point marker.  After that it was just a matter of coloring the image in – I used copics  – and putting everything together.  You can’t tell from the photo but I added a little sparkle to the white berries with a stardust gel pen.

So turning this image from Christmas to Valentine worked for me.  And you could even do an Easter theme by drawing ovals instead of hearts.

I’m submitting this card over on the Power Poppy monthly “warm up” challenge – details found HERE.

I hope you can take a look at your stamp collection and see what other possibilities they may bring.

Thanks for stopping by today.

pretty in blue

I know it’s February and so many cards are in shades of pink and red, but I thought I would change it up a bit with a valentine card in blue and white!

The image and sentiment are from Mark’s Finest Papers – I love this image.  It was colored with several shades of copic markers in the B family on copic x-press it card stock.  The blue cardstock is called Dark Night Navy and is gorgeous!  It is also from MFP!

Nestabilites dies were used for all the cutouts.  A cuttlebug embossing folder was used to create the background.

Thanks for stopping by today!   Go Patriots!!

sunny monday

What a beautiful day it is today here in sunny Florida!   We are having our usual wonderful warm weather  and I have a bright sunny card for today!

The images are from the newly released You Are Cherished set from Mark’s Finest Papers.   I love this black-eyed susan image and have several already colored in different shades.  This one is the more traditional yellow and orange shades – it was colored with various YR copic markers.

The green and patterned paper are from Basic Grey’s Kioshi line.  The gorgeous yellow paper and ribbon are from Mark’s Finest Papers – called Morning Sun  and it is a rich and vibrant yellow!

I also used an SU corner punch, a Martha Stewart border punch and a button and brad from my stash.

Thanks so much for stopping by!!
