sunny monday

What a beautiful day it is today here in sunny Florida!   We are having our usual wonderful warm weather  and I have a bright sunny card for today!

The images are from the newly released You Are Cherished set from Mark’s Finest Papers.   I love this black-eyed susan image and have several already colored in different shades.  This one is the more traditional yellow and orange shades – it was colored with various YR copic markers.

The green and patterned paper are from Basic Grey’s Kioshi line.  The gorgeous yellow paper and ribbon are from Mark’s Finest Papers – called Morning Sun  and it is a rich and vibrant yellow!

I also used an SU corner punch, a Martha Stewart border punch and a button and brad from my stash.

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

It’s the final day of release week and I am happy to show you my card made with one of the images from the You Are Cherished set.  The set contains two floral images in a heart shape and several sentiments.   In this card I used the pansies image stamped in Memento Grape ink then sponged with Memento Dandelion.  The base card is make with MFP’s Scrambled Eggs cardstock and pretty satin center organza ribbon.  A cuttlebug embossing folder was used for the background.  The purple pearls started out white but I colored them with a violet copic marker.

Today’s card features the beautiful set called Love Remains.  It is perfect for valentine, wedding, anniversary or any occasion where you want to send thoughts of love!
For my card I colored the rose image with copics – this is such an easy flower to color and would look beautiful in watercolor.  The designer paper is from Memory box and is mounted on rose colored cardstock.   A sheer white ribbon and blue rhinestones were added for the finishing touches

Clean and simple…….collage?

Is there such a thing?  I’ve seen cards that have a collage-y feel, yet also retain a clean and simple design and this was my first attempt.

Ok –  I have to admit there are probably too many layers or textures for this to be a true clean and simple design, but not bad for a first try!

The only stamping is the design in the background from PTI’s guidelines set.  The dp and brads are  from Basic Grey Urban Praire line and I used a combination of nestabilities labels 8, a sizzix oval die and slice machine for the word and flower.

I plan on working more  on  clean and simple collage designs and will post my efforts on the blog!

Inspiration comes from many things

One of the great things about doing challenges is that you are exposed to so many different things – most of which would never cross your path during the normal day to day activities.  The colors of this card were inspired by a piece by Mindy Wilson shown {here}.  I love the blue and chocolate color palette, its one of my favorite color combos.  I did not want to simply recreate something similiar to her piece, yet instead be inspired to use the colors to make something of my own.

I remembered this patterned paper from SEI’s Winter Song pack, which contains many holiday patterns along with several other patterns that can be used year round.  I love  this pretty blue and chocolate pattern.

I double matted the frame and double mounted the sentiment.  The flourishy things were cut using my Slice machine from the Basics 3 design card.  Chocolate pearls were also added.  The frame was created using nestabilities rectangle dies.

The sentiment was computer generated (I guess the term now  is “digi stamp!!) and was written by David Viscott.  It was printed out on solid blue paper which was also found in the SEI Winter song pack.   The chocolate paper is SU.

If you want this sentiment, it is a Word document and I have posted it {here}.

Thanks for stopping by  – look for inspiration everywhere!!
