Limited supplies – and a free digi "stamp"

Todays limited supplies challenge at SCS said to make a card for someone you love, limit it to reds or pinks, black and white and to incorporate polka dots somewhere in your creation.

Here is my card – this clean and simple card came together quickly – although I am embarrased to say there is no stamping.  The LOVE sentiment is something I created digitally!!!!  It was so easy to do – not much more than typing the text and moving the letters together.

If you want this digital image I’ve uploaded the file on SCS on this post {here}.  The image show here is a 1″ square and in red, but you can easily resize  and change the color if you have photoshop elements.

I printed out LOVE  on white carstock,  and mounted it on red, then white. A nestability square die was used to cut out a frame from white cardstock which was then embossed using a  cuttlebug swiss dots folder The mounted LOVE image was then popped up in the center of the frame.  Red polka dot and black polka dot ribbon were used for embellishments and two corners of the white panel were rounded.

I resisted the tempation to add more bling as this is supposed to be a limited supplies challenge!!

I hope you like what I’ve created!!  Thanks for stopping by!

Inspiration Challenge

A lovely dress was the inspiration for today’s challenge over at SCS – one of those pretty sparkly cocktail dresses!   Here is my submission based on that inspriation.

elements-nk-1.jpgI started with a large chocolate card, 5 1/2 x 5, on which I embossed images from the Flourished Elements set.  The embossing powder is called “Black Hills Gold” from Creations Unlimited and it has a wonderul effect to it.  Depending on the light, the embossed powder looks either gold or copper – just like the Black Hills Gold jewelry!  I stamped another flourished element on  piece of scrap chocolate and cut it with nestabilities circle dies.

Love is stamped on vanilla and embossed with the same powder.  This stamp is from the Lace Heart set from Flourishes and was cut with nestabilities as well.

Then I took a piece of gold scrapbook paper and did a “tuxedo” fold – thought it would look well with the formal look of the stamps.  If you are doing a fold like this use thin paper, not cardstock, which is just too heavy.

I attached the gold paper to the card and wrapped a gold cord  – which is actually metallic needlepoint thread – around it, then attached the Love circle to the cord.

ATC for Stampfest

Here is the ATC I made to swap at the Stampfest Convention later this month. I’m really pleased with how it turned out, primarily because I used leftover paper from some wedding invitations I made last year. I’ve been holding on to the scraps thinking they would come in handy one day, and that day is today!!
I started with beautiful blue metallic paper from Michaels. I stamped the diamond pattern (See D’s stamps) with Palette’s glue pad and applied white Pearl Ex on top. The swirly flowers (Autumn Leaves) are stamped in brilliant blue. “Love” is from the new, soon to be released set from Flourishes, also stamped in brilliant blue. The hearts are sizzix die cuts, the smaller one was embossed with the Cuttlebug tapestry folder and then applied with Pearl ex to give it some shimmer. Although the photo does not show it the ATC has a nice pearly shimmer to it!
