rock rose

I’ve never heard of a rock rose – I suppose they grow in rocky areas.  This card is made with a rock rose digital image and is for this weeks SCS sketch challenge.

I colored the flower with copic markers in the RV and YG series.  The patterned paper is from the Memory Box Jubilee collection which is filled with pretty spring and summery papers in greens, pinks and blues.   The ribbon is from May Arts, the sentiment from Papertrey.  The bakers twine is one of my diy twines – I colored crochet thread with a light RV copic to match the color on the main panel.

The rock rose digi I picked up for free somewhere – I can’t recall where, but if you want the image just post a comment or e-mail me and I will send it to you.

vellum and rose

Today I wanted to create a card with a vellum base.  Using vellum adds such a softness to a card and I love the transparent look.  Here’s my card – that came together quicker than expected.

The reason this came together quickly is because I used a previously made ATC as the focal point.  I made the rose ATC last year for a swap, and almost all of my ATC’s end up being used on cards.

The rose image was stamped and embossed in black and colored with Twinkling H2O’s.  The background flourishes were gold embossed.  Gold edge stickers were used along the border.

The patterned paper in the background is from Basic Grey’s Scarlett’s Letter (how I wish this paper was still available!).  Then the piece was mounted on red.

A red satin ribbon encloses the vellum card.
